You has some of the most drastic hairstyles of the '80s. Was that an accident?

I punished my hair more than anyone in the band. There was one that Simon refers to as 'The Pudding Bowl'. It really was a bit of a disaster. It was a very early one, in 1980, actually. I was into crimping.

Someone named Satan's Child wrote a story on the Web in which he attacks you with his 'sharp demonic fangs'.

Are you running a cult that we don't know about?

No, no, no. No cults. But I have seen that one actually. I have a fanzine that they sent me. Well, I think that one has a very good dose of humor in it.

Yet another site claims that you and David Bowie are good aliens from another planet who got into trouble because of your insistence on 'wearing pastel cosmetics and really lovely Italian shoes'.

We've had some real crazy ones. The ones that have dressed up in official uniforms. We've had girls turn up by dressing up as nurses, which I thoroughly approved of.

You dig nurses?

Uniforms. My uniform fetish.

Shoes, partiularly nice heels.
