Пишу в оригинале: A one minute interview with Simon le Bon and Nick Rhodes.

Star -- Do people stop you in the street when you go shopping?
Simon -- Well, where I live I am a familiar sight so people don't bother me, because I often do go shopping on High Street on Saturday mornings and so people are used to me and don't bother me at all.

Star -- Now that you are married, Nick, do you wish you could leave a normal life?
Nick -- It really doesn't make mush difference being married but it's not much fun leading a normal life , it's fun to have something different going on. I'm a fidget, I'm a Gemini, I like to do different things all the time

Журнал Star: - Is it awful having to return home after touring all over the world?
Simon -- It is one place where you can really settle down and relax and straighten out, find a balance.

Star -- Have you any favourite places?
Nick -- Yeah, I think New York is a general favourite place because...(Le bon перебивает)
Simon -- No, I'm not too keen on it. I like Sedney, Australia because it was really fun. I like going outside I like water sports and fresh air, sun and the sea, you don't get that in New York (laughs)

Star Where do you get your hair done?
Simon -- We get it done for free, because Andy's brother in law is a hairdresser, so we get it for nothing, which is really sneaky. A friend of mine cuts mine sometimes, a chap called Dave.
Nick -- A friend of mine cuts mine sometimes too, a chap called Lennard. I went to see him the other day.
Simon --- And Mitchell Wilson from Wolverhampton (in England). He is the guy who does it most of the time.

Star -- Do you get upset when you read nasty things about yourself?
Nick -- No, I feel really sorry for those people who, when they get up each day, must think, "Who can I write nasty think about?" It must be very depressing for them but I don't worry about them.

On Simon"S last vocation in Greece, he learned to windsurf, but it did give him back pain.

Атмосфера...

Ник: постепенно мы поняли,что альбом обладает определенной атмосферой и концепцией. И действительно это диск из тех, которые нужно прослушивать в наушниках.
Проигрывать его раз за разом и размышлять. Мне кажется с ДД мы выпускали отличные поп-альбомы, хорошие песни...этакие сборники синглов и просто песен. Аркадия-это единое произведение.
Зрелость...


Ник: Очень сложно сказать будет ли еще один альбом Аркадии, потому что сейчас все наши мысли заняты предстоящим альбомом ДД. Но Аркадия нам очень понравилась. И мы кстати, многому научились. Это обширное поле деятельности, где еще полно места для открытий. Может в будущем и появится нвый альбом. Через пару лет, когда мы снова решим отдохнуть. Кто знает?

Вот что-что, а Arcadia уж точно для наушников. Когда на всю катушку из колонок, то воспринимается, по большей, части как какая-то "танцулька", звуки рассеиваются, проходят мимо. А если сидишь в каком-нибудь тихом месте, желательно на природе или едешь (тоже неплохой вариант), ощущения совершенно другие (IMG:style_emoticons/default/music.gif) У меня даже сначала стопор был... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wow.gif)

Origins of the name Arcadia

As you may or may not know the name Arcadia was choosen from a Latin phrase "Et in Arcadia ego" that was stuck in Simon's mind at the time, when they were running out of time to find a name for the project.

So what exactly what does this phrase mean? "et in Arcadia ego" is actually an incomplete Latin sentence, because it lacks a verb. It should really read "et in Arcadia ego sum", which means "And I am in Paradise"


"Et in Arcadia ego" is a Latin phrase that most famously appears as the title of two paintings by Nicolas Poussin (1594–1665). They are pastoral paintings depicting idealized shepherds from classical antiquity, clustering around an austere tomb. The more famous second version of the subject, measuring 122 by 85 cm, is in the Louvre, Paris, and also goes under the name "Les bergers d'Arcadie" ("The Arcadian Shepherds").





It has been highly influential in the history of art and more recently has been associated with the pseudohistory of the Priory of Sion popularised in the books Holy Blood, Holy Grail and The Da Vinci Code.

Origins:

The phrase is a memento mori, which is usually interpreted to mean "I am also in Arcadia" or "I am even in Arcadia", as if spoken by personified Death. However, Poussin's biographer, Andre Felibien, interpreted it to mean that "the person buried in this tomb has lived in Arcadia"; in other words, that they too once enjoyed the pleasures of life on earth. The former interpretation is generally considered to be more likely. Either way, the sentiment was meant to set up an ironic contrast by casting the shadow of death over the usual idle merriment that the nymphs and swains of ancient Arcadia were thought to embody.

The first appearance of a tomb with a memorial inscription (to Daphnis) amid the idyllic settings of Arcadia appears in Virgil's Eclogues V 42 ff. Virgil took the idealized Sicilian rustics that had first appeared in the Idylls of Theocritus and set them in the primitive Greek district of Arcadia (see Eclogues VII and X). The idea was taken up anew in the circle of Lorenzo de' Medici in the 1460s and 1470s, during the Florentine Renaissance. In his pastoral work Arcadia (1504), Jacopo Sannazaro fixed the Early Modern perception of Arcadia as a lost world of idyllic bliss, remembered in regretful dirges. In the 1590s, Sir Philip Sidney circulated copies of his romance The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia, which soon got into print. The first pictorial representation of the familiar memento mori theme that was popularized in 16th-century Venice, now made more concrete and vivid by the inscription ET IN ARCADIA EGO, is Guercino's version, painted between 1618 and 1622 (in the Galleria Barberini, Rome), in which the inscription gains force from the prominent presence of a skull in the foreground, beneath which the words are carved.

Poussin's own first version of the painting (now in Chatsworth house) was probably commissioned as a reworking of Guercino's version. It is in a far more Baroque style than the later version, characteristic of Poussin's early work. In the Chatsworth painting the shepherds are actively discovering the half-hidden and overgrown tomb, and are reading the inscription with curious expressions. The shepherdess, standing at the left, is posed in sexually suggestive fashion, very different from her austere counterpart in the later version. The later version has a far more geometric composition and the figures are much more contemplative. The mask-like face of the shepherdess conforms to the conventions of the Classical "Greek profile".
